The Full Story

In the year 2020, the Medical Club at North Hollywood High School was founded by Rishabh Garg, a 9th grader with a keen desire to learn from experts and like-minded peers. The club officially came into existence on October 18th, 2020.

Rishabh began by figuring out the process of forming a club and seeking out potential board members. After reaching out to many individuals, he managed to assemble the inaugural board for the year 2020: Rishabh Garg (President), Adeline Sun (VP of Administration), Juri Kim and Ghino Lee (VPs of Marketing/Outreach), and Lucky Chettupalli (VP of Research).

Creating a comprehensive plan was essential for the club's success, so Rishabh and his board utilized Notion and held weekly meetings to strategize and coordinate their efforts. However, establishing the club came with its share of challenges. To gain official authorization, they needed a sponsor, and initially, Ms. Espinosa, a biology teacher, agreed under the condition that the club meetings would be held during lunchtime. Unfortunately, school regulations later banned lunchtime clubs, prompting the search for a new sponsor. Thankfully, Mr. Jewett, a supportive spanish teacher, stepped in to fill the role.

In the year 2021, the club faced a transition when the original biology teacher and spanish teacher left the school. Rishabh and his team persevered, eventually finding Mr. Pringle, an english teacher, who was willing to sponsor the club. As the club grew, the policies and processes also matured. Rishabh and the team enacted an election process, leading to a new board. 2021: Rishabh Garg (President), Adeline Sun (VP of Administration), Samantha Koch (VP of Marketing), and Deanna Lee (VP of Research).

In the year 2022, the english teacher sponsor, unfortunately, could no longer sponsor the club. Rishabh sought a new sponsor and eventually a new biology teacher, Ms. Deutsch, stepped up to support the cause. 2022: Rishabh Garg (President), Adeline Sun (VP of Administration), Samantha Koch (VP of Marketing), and Deanna Lee (VP of Research).

In the year 2023, the club continued to grow and reach new heights under the dedicated guidance of Ms. Deutsch. With an environment of collaboration and creativity, the club expanded its activities and engaged more members. 2023: Rishabh Garg (President), Wilfred Gonzalez (VP of Administration), Rosie Amezcua (VP of Marketing), and Sharath Jyothi (VP of Research).​
